TOO MANY HIGHTOPS : MARGA GOMEZ

I forgot that I am not a successful shoelace tier. I meant to visit NYC and buy shoes with buckles, velcro or zippers. Instead I snapped up 3 pairs of high tops
from A Life's once a year alley sale because the shop was 3 blocks from where I was couch surfing and I could get 3 pairs for a $100. The laces are extra long so now I have to walk slower. I've tripped twice, once on the stairs, but my girlfriend thinks I look good and wants to borrow my kicks.

My name is Marilyn Roxie, and these are my shoes (attached pic). I'm from California, have a music blog: A Future in Noise, and also make instrumental tunes.

This is the story behind the shoes: I was working behind the counter a thrift store over a year ago. I never really bothered to check what shoes were coming in since they were often tattered and uninteresting. Early in the morning one day, this guy has these glorious chunky shoes that he found that had just been set out, apparently, and he's buying them along with a pile of other nifty items. I thought it would be obnoxious to try to buy them back from him or something, so I just let him go, though I was a little encouraged that he said he was going to sell them somewhere. A few months later, there they were, the same shoes, in an antique & costumes shop about 15 minutes away from the thrift store. Needless to say, I bought them immediately! I am normally 5'2", but with these shoes, I am 5'3", maybe a little more.
